In HATCHLINGS #3 zetten beginnende en gevestigde choreografen hun eerste stappen richting jeugddans. Voor deze editie werkten de choreografen Andrea Boll, Roser López Espinosa, Paul Selwyn Norton en Liat Waysbort aan een korte jeugdvoorstelling.  Ans Kanen maakte korte video's van gesprekken tussen Arthur Rosenfeld (artistiek leider van Meekers) en de choreografen. *Klik op de naam om de video's te bekijken op youtube.

Shot on several locations in Amsterdam, Dubai (UAE), Sharjah (UAE), Pingjum (Friesland), and Doha (Qatar), Typographic Matchmaking in the City : The Film follows the 5 teams of Dutch and Arab designers that participated in the project over a period of 18 months while they were traveling, working together, and presenting their work in progress to culturally and professionally diverse audiences. The film makes visible not only the design process, the struggles and challenges of the designers, but also addresses the larger topics of bringing two cultures into a dialogue through design. The Typographic Matchmaking in the City project aims at introducing a new approach to bilingual lettering and poetic narrative that would create an alternative public space, a new form of multilingual urban poetry.

Stageability Dance #3 tijdens Open Dans Rotterdam. 

Stageability Dance is een samenwerkingsproject waarin meerdere disciplines samenkomen. In eerste instantie was de creatie van een ruimtelijke structuur door Ivo Vrouwe en Michiel Jansen het gegeven waarop verschillende kunstenaars reageerden en hun werk konden presenteren. Zo kwam in november '09 onder andere Stageability Dance #1 tot stand, waarbij drie dansmakers en een geluidskunstenaar samen een compositie creëerden. Stageability Dance #3 is een doorontwikkeling van deze eerste presentatie, waarbij tevens een nieuwe danser (Anka Majcher) meewerkt. Het samenwerkingsproces staat toe dat de performance transformeert bij elk toonmoment doordat vanuit alle disciplines nieuwe keuzes en variaties worden gemaakt naar aanleiding van de eerdere versies.

Stageability Dance #2

at TEST EXTRA 'Experimental Approach vs. The Natural World' 

8 mei 20.00 Nutshuis Den Haag. 

With the installation 'Stageability Dance #2' the tension between freedom and captivity is being explored by dynamic dance and a static structure. The structure itself has both a physical limitation as well as a strong visual impact on the performance. The spherical shape of the structure forces a circular composition. The structure creates a boundary, it suggests an introverted atmosphere as if the dancers are trapped. Within this given situation the performers try to impose a diffuse line between observing and being observed.

Liefdevol weggedragen van creatieve rommelzolders en vezel voor vezel losgeweekt uit cultkelders. Nu aanlokkelijk uitgestald in Plaza Futura, klaar voor het eerste gretige publiek. COOKING APES 27 dec 2009

Cooking Apes -Installation by Ans Kanen and Efrat Zehavi.
Inspired by the 'postmodern fable' of Lyotard, Ans & Efrat set on their experiment. They use an abandoned house in Delft as a laboratory for their homemade evolution process, wherein body and material are in constant movement. With the help of a video camera, they record and document their process. The results are converted into a theatrical narrative and staged within the house.

WIELAND'S BARBECUE 2008

Wieland's Barbecue is a dance video made in collaboration with Janine Brall. The video is about non-verbal communication and was filmed in one shot of 16 minutes.

Wieland's Barbecue was screened during Act Festival 2009 in Bilbao and received a special mention from the jury: 'an unconventional and risky project, not easy to watch but interesting'.
